Volunteers Needed to Combat Litter

The city of Peoria is facing a culture of habitual littering, but a group of volunteers is looking to snuff out the taboo behavior. The ‘Mayor’s Litter Committee’ is working towards keeping the city of Peoria attractive, reducing litter and getting members of the community involved in combating litter citywide.

The crew led by Peoria resident and Litter Czar, Steve Tyler, meets once a week during summer months. In 2020, the group has been targeting Main Street. They began tackling an eight block stretch of West Main Street in June and have made their way down numerous streets including Sheridan Road.
