No Trash, Recycling or Yard Waste Pick up on Labor Day

The City’s trash hauler, Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) will not pick up trash, recycling, or yard waste on Monday, September 7. The service change is in observance of the federal Labor Day holiday. The weekday holiday will delay collection by one day for the remainder of the week. Reminder: Carts, cans and all other materials may be set out as early as 3 p.m. the day before pickup but must be out by 6 a.m. on pickup day to avoid missing a collection. All trash should be bagged, including materials inside the trash cart. This deters animals and helps reduce litter throughout our community. Questions? Contact PDC at 309-674-5176, option #1.  Want to subscribe to the latest Peoria Picks Up updates? Head to peoriapicksup.com/blog/ and enter your email in the box under the Subscribe to Peoria Picks Up section on the right. Taking Pride in Trash Carts

Devoted team keeps trash pickup rolling in Peoria One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. The age-old adage holds true for Peoria’s trash carts which, indeed, are treasures to the City. While any onlooker might not think twice about the brown plastic container, they are City owned assets and looked after – just like any other piece of Peoria property.  Why Track Carts? In the River City, our carts are pivotal to the success of our solid waste program overseen by Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) – making it incumbent upon property owners, waste collectors and the City to care for the containers.  One of Peoria’s instrumental workers who protects the assets is our cart technician whose very job involves tracking down the wayward sheep in the City’s flock of more than 40,000 trash carts. In this role, the technician utilizes interactive waste management software to view and respond to service requests. The technology allows him to head into the field informed and ready to deliver, replace or repair carts on site.  When Damage is Done For carts damaged beyond repair, the technician will remove the broken cart from the residence and assign a new […]
