Yes, Peoria Picks Up! Trash!

No Recycling, Yard Waste or Trash Pick Up on Thanksgiving Day 

The City’s trash hauler, Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) will not pick up recycling, yard waste or trash on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 26.  The service changes will not affect Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday routes, however, for the rest of the week, residents can follow this schedule:  If your collection day is Thursday, set carts out on Friday. If you collection day is Friday, set carts out on Saturday. Carts, cans, and all materials may be set out the day before pickup as early as 3 p.m. but must be out by 6 a.m. on pickup day to avoid missing a collection. All trash should be bagged, including materials inside the trash cart. America Recycles Day is November 15 The Peoria Picks Up! campaign will recognize the importance and impact of recycling this Sunday, November 15 on what is known as America Recycles Day. The national awareness holiday has contributed to American prosperity and the protection of our environment since 1997.  The national recycling rate has increased from less than 7% in 1960 to the current rate of 35% Local Goals:  The city of Peoria has a current recycling rate of 44% according to a June 2020 Peoria Picks Up report That number brings the City closer to its goal of 90% And recycling has a big impact on our Country’s workforce. Yard Waste: Service Delays

Our trees lost a lot of leaves this past week, so many that the City’s trash hauler Peoria Disposal Company (PDC) is running behind with their yard waste collection.  Thank you for your patience The larger volume of yard waste may create service delays this week. Peoria Disposal is working later hours and into the weekend to accommodate for the influx. Yard waste collection will be available through mid-December, with services wrapping up on December 11.
