Make moving more eco-friendly
- Donate, gift, and sell belongings you no longer have use for before you move. This can help you avoid throwing items out. And, you’ll end up packing up fewer items.
- Reuse moving supplies. If you have some moving boxes saved from past moves, great! If not, ask friends and family who have recently moved if they have moving materials that they no longer need. Or, invest in some reusable bins that can be used during your move and at your new home. This eliminates the need for buying new supplies and ensures that nothing goes to waste.
- Use eco-friendly packing materials. Instead of using styrofoam, packing peanuts, and other plastics, use blankets, towels, or old t-shirts to cushion your belongings.
